Project Description

The Central Washington Bioarchaeology Field School in Ecuador provides students the opportunity to analyze previously excavated Pre-Columbian human skeletal remains in a laboratory setting. Students will gain experience in a range of osteological techniques including inventory procedures, conservation, estimating age, sex, pathologies, trauma, and taphonomic factors. Students will produce a technical report to be given to the community of their results. Additional activities include lectures, trips to archaeological and ethnographic musuems and sites, and a whale watching/snorkeling excursion to nearby Salango Island.

Room and Board Arrangements

Room and board is taken care of in the program fee. We will be staying at the Centro Investigaciones y Museo Salango (Research Center and Salango Museum). All weekday meals are included and 2 weekend meals are included.
